Teaching Experience
Elliston Area School as part of the Whistling in the Winds Sculpture Festival, March 2004Teaching experience includes leading senior students from Elliston Area School and surrounding schools who were transported to Elliston Area School for the experience, in a mini one day rose painting workshop where students painted on board with acrylics, tonally and then in colour, followed by oil glazes. I also provided materials for a rose mural. Information regarding technique and materials was shared with the local art teachers.
Jacqueline Coates One Day Rose Painting Workshops
These are conducted at my home in South Australia (every three months), in Sydney, Brisbane and Wellington, NZ annually. I teach up to 15 people in the workshops. The workshops have been a huge success. The aim is to empower people to paint, and to create accessible pathways for those with little experience to achieve a great result. The results seem to create confidence in the participants and from the feedback I receive, it is apparent that many are inspired to go on to paint more art works.
Jacqueline Coates Art Class Series One and Two
These are a series of six classes held on Wednesdays between 10 and 2pm at my home in South Australia for a maximum of 6 participants which provided the opportunity to explore painting in more depth resulting in a larger more complex and highly finished work of art. Series One class this year focused on the composition, drawing up, and painting of a still life of local autumn produce. Participants created two compositions from which to choose; quinces, figs and pomegranates, or a selection of patterned pumpkins, squashes and marrows. Finished paintings were in the form of long canvas on stretcher panels. The Series Two currently in progress has roses as the subject matter. Participants create compositions with a selection of blooms varying in colour and complexity of structure resulting in a 70cm square canvas on stretchers painting.
Other Activities
